Playing With Fire - Fusing Silver Workshop

Writer: Amber GillettAmber Gillett

Hey there, crafty folks! Let's dive into a quick rundown of the fusing workshop we hosted on March 9th. It was a real blast, all about mastering the flame, understanding how silver reacts to heat, and keeping that fire under control.

We had a group of eight students, each keen to make their mark. And boy, did they deliver! We had a mix of rings, earrings, bangles and pendants coming to life in the workshop, each piece a testament to the individual style and skills of its maker.

The focus of the day was all about getting comfortable with the torch, learning how to handle it just right to manipulate the silver. It's a delicate dance, finding the sweet spot between too much heat and not enough. But by the end of it, everyone was getting the hang of it, creating some seriously cool stuff.

The best part? It wasn't just about the finished pieces; it was about the process. As we worked away, swapping tips and tricks, there was a real sense of camaraderie in the air. It's amazing how a shared passion for creating can bring people together like that.

As the day wound down, we all took a step back to admire our work. And let me tell you, we were all pretty chuffed with what we'd achieved. It's amazing what a bit of fire and metal can turn into when you put your mind to it.

Big thanks to everyone who came along and made it such a cracking day. Here's to many more workshops and plenty more fiery creations in the future!
