Create your own texturing stamps from nails and use them to add scales, fins and faces to a good fortune fish brooch. You’ll learn to make your own stamps, shape and form your fish and how to add a secure but simple brooch pin. In China and Europe fish are considered a symbol of wealth and abundance and we hope these fish brooches will bring you health wealth and happiness when you wear them. 

 

To complete this project you will need:

 

MATERIALS

•    Sheet metal - silver, gold, brass or copper. 0.7mm - 1.2mm. 
•    Tubing in a corresponding metal - the inner diameter of the tube should be the same or just fractionally bigger than the diameter of the pin wire
•    Stainless steel or fully hard sterling silver wire. Around 0.8mm - 1.2mm in diameter


TOOL KIT ESSENTIALS

•    Piercing saw, bench peg and 2/0 blades
•    Selection of needle files - square, triangular and half round
•    Emery paper in 800 grit and 1200 grit or thereabouts. 
•    Drill or hole punch pliers
•    Soldering kit
•    Old files - no longer used for precious metals
•    Jobbing or chasing hammer
•    Steel nails
•    Finishing media of choice
