This course is suitable for learners with wax carving experience or those who have been on the beginers course. In the 6 weeks course you will learn how to utilize gemstones when designing your wax models. You will learn how to carve wax for a bezel setting and a claw setting, explore casting with stones in place, and how to measure and cut a channel for channel setting. You will gain insight and tips and tricks for seating irregular shaped stones in wax and what to consider in how and when it is best to make your settings in wax as opposed to making them straight in metal. There will be a lesson in finishing, polishing and setting your gems. You will have two opportunities to send off waxes to be cast in silver at an additional cost.
